Step 1: Come out and have a look at the club or contact our president or secretary.
Step 2: Join our National Association (SSAA).
All SSAA Moonta members are required to first join SSAA National which also covers your insurance whilst at the club. SSAA National offer Junior, Senior, Adult and family memberships.
When completing the SSAA membership our club branch number is S03. Junior SSAA membership is currently covered by SSAA SA. Please contact secretary for details on how to proceed with a junior national membership fee.
Step 3: Join SSAA Moonta
Under the current firearms act, any person wishing to compete in a any club activities (including general sighting in) with their own firearm is required to have purpose of use POU 1 club use on their licence. Click here for SAPOL firearms forms for variation to licence PD307 chrome-extension:

After submitting the form at your local police station and assessment by SAPOL you will receive a letter stating you can commence Cat1 club training. Upon receiving your letter please contact the club president so training can be arranged. Cat 1 club training for new members is free of charge.
You are required to undertake the club safety course within the first six months of joining. All SSAA Moonta Members must undergo the training. Failure to do so may lead to termination of your membership.

Step 4:The SSAA Moonta will then run a background check.
This will involve SAPOL Check. Fit and proper person check or firearms licence.
Club contacting referees.
Membership Application will be put forward at the next committee council meeting.
Memberships applications are normally processed within 4 weeks.
You will be notified by the Club regarding your membership following the committee meeting followed by membership invoice from the club treasurer.

Useful information after becoming a member
Under the 2017 regulations new members must notify to SAPOL that you have joined SSAA Moonta.
Under the SSAA Moonta constitution it is required that you retain your SSAA membership whilst you are a member of SSAA Moonta. This is important as this covers your insurance, and the ability to shoot in matches. Checks will be done throughout the year by the Secretary.
